* Holding public court behind the emerald curtain; the 'Great Mother' and the 'All-Knowing Goddess.'
[Game 116 - elevators - Three | Day 146 | shareable 7/8 (gold smiling/frowning coin)]
"Her Majesty is a very special person. She can predict all the events in the Empire. Perhaps what happened to you is also within her knowledge (...) She is, and forever will be the only true ruler of the Methuselah. She is our Mother. She governs this Empire in the past, in the present, and in the future; forever."
"Diwan - it's the highest congress that the Empress herself attends. Even we Imperial nobles don't see Her Majesty in person very often. Her Majesty the Empress almost never lets anyone, not even us, enter her living quarters. So, during the Diwan, that's when we'll have our chance."
An example of the Empress's public court is shown from here until page 27; this memory is of a more traditional session somewhere in the past, though, without any shocking royal murders involved. Blah blah nobles blah blah being the highest judge in the country blah blah talking fancy.
Notable things: she now remembers that she used a curtain to conceal herself from all her nobles, wore an outfit with a veil even behind it, and used a modifier to change her voice; that she herself is neither a Methuselah or a Terran, but rules both under the title 'Her Imperial Majesty Empress Augusta Vradica,'; that she is addressed as the 'Great Mother' of all Methuselah despite not being one; that she is called the 'All-Knowing Goddess' because she knows things they would not expect her to know thanks to having a complex information network and the secret freedom to move about the Empire herself; that the citizens believe in her because organized religion of any sort is forbidden in the Empire.
+ 100 false identities, covert operations.
+ Knowing she is the Empress; the 'Augusta Vradica' role.
+ HA HA OH I AM A RULER AND THIS SYSTEM IS MY FAULT 8'D
+ What makes the 'Terran' so different from the 'Methuselah?'
+ 50 what am authority . . .
+ 50 what am religion . . .
+ 50 responsibility.
+ 50 sneaky tendencies.
+ ffffancytalk, court systems.
+ resonance with 'mothering' on a symbolic as well as personal level.

* Drinking from Mirka's grandmother.
[Game 117 - flower symbolism - Mother | Day 148-149 | shareable 4/5 (edible wood sorrel flower)]
This one is trivial negative in context of Seth's whole life but it wound up kind of hard-hitting for Eve, because it's her first Crusnik memory.
Mirka is canon's current Lady Fortuna, Duchess of Moldova; she's established confidante and body double to the Empress, Chief Privy Counselor, and the highest-ranking noble in the Empire. She actually knows about Seth's and the Methuselah's origins! Mirka's grandmother, however, was probably the one who established the Fortuna house in such a close place, and Seth would have been close to her in their day too.
The Fortunas, like all Empire nobles, are Methuselah (science vampires.) Seth is a Crusnik; there are sentient nanomachines in her blood that consume the ones in Methuselah blood -- they are very violent and very hungry, obviously moreso when she is around Methuselah, and she lives surrounded by Methuselah! She fights Crusnik all the time; this is an aspect of her previous memories that was gently blurred out but will now be fully present. Seth can go for a long time without drinking as long as she doesn't activate Crusnik, but she's had to, and in this particular memory it was also an emergency, which means she had to drink directly from someone and couldn't wait for blood to be extracted/processed.
It was very snarly and full of cccontrol slipping and grabbing it back and trying not to tear her friend's throat out or sink claws into her wrists; having most of her rational thought lost in a red fog and the smell of blood under skin (and then not), and the noises Lady Fortuna was making. Extremely visceral and physical stuff! Brushing on sexual a little bit.
+ What is she?
+ Awareness of a headmonster that is not yet awake; will eventually quest discreetly for Methuselah blood against the day it does.
+ Fortuna dere . . .
+ Tendency to be . . . a little bitey when she forgets herself . . . this was the memory she went into the kissing game with, ftr. Teeth happen.
+ 80 value of self-control.

* The nature of Countess Shahrazad al-Rahman's death.
[Game 120 - Hakuren's heart - Dream | Day 152 | nonshareable]
Referencing this chapter and the one after it.
A memory of Seth reading an informational report about the Methuselah 'Countess Shahrazad al-Rahman, Countess of Babylon' and the Terran 'Esther Blanchett,' a Vatican nun who was formally proclaimed a saint for killing the Countess in the city of Istavan while she threatened the Pope's life. Information that this was a lie: that the two of them were caught in a murder plot organized by Emmanuel D'Annunzio, Archbishop of Istavan; that D'Annunzio provoked Shahrazad by brutally murdering her Terran servants; that Shahrazad was already dying and used the opportunity to promote Esther to sainthood by forcing Esther to mercy-kill her.
Knowledge that Shahrazad fled the Empire with her servants because Seth would have arrested them otherwise, when Shahrazad's uncle was convicted of high treason; that she had not met Shahrazad since Shahrazad was a little girl; that she knows Esther well enough to trust the truth in the report. A sense of shame and mildly detached, responsible sadness; something like pride in Esther.
+ 50 responsibility.
+ 50 regret.
+ 50 loneliness.
+ INTERNATIONAL POLITICS!1
+ I guess Scheherazade's name will ping her now?
