[MEMORIES # 8, 9, 10 (SIG NEG, SIG NEU, SIG NEG) / SKILL # 3]

* The Returners begin to mutate in Earth's environment.

[Game 124 – the rebalance - Three | Day 157 | shareable 9/10 (jasper-red drop spindle)]

Seth is very young in this memory: physically the fifteen she is now; mentally . . . a very clever young child who's only lived a couple of years, shy and not sure of herself and trying to live up to being the leader she was made to be. Crusnik is present in this memory, more consciously present than in many of her other memories: it's new, and she's not used to forcing it down yet.

She's in a fabricated shelter, wearing the white uniform and green insignia of the UN, and she's terrified, running tests and taking records as fast as her fingers will allow. There are men and women and children – most of them are sedated, some of them strapped down to their beds, the worst off or the ones too strong to hold with straps kept in chambers at the back. Their skin is blistered, peeling right off in places-- they scream when they go out in the sun -- she works in darkness or ambient artificial light. She known many of them. They have lost a few already. Some are beginning to call out that they're thirsty, so thirsty, but no matter how much fluid they're given they're still parched and burning up inside.

Coming back to Earth has done something terrible to them, made every Returner but herself and Cain and Abel and Lilith sick, and she knows it's the nanomachines but she has no idea how to fix it. She even obtains permission to take a volunteer and inject him with nanomachines isolate from her own blood, in the hopes that such a drastic measure would do the trick. She watches as he's eaten from the inside, unable to stop this either . . . the memory ends.

+ Really, what makes a monster?
+ Has enough back to realize they didn't find a cure – that this is part of the origins of the Empire she rules now.
+ More awareness of herself as someone who grew and developed into who she is now rather than someone who has always been the current 'Seth' or 'Eve.'
+ Knows her real name -- will continue not to use it.
+ Not fear/dislike of sunlight precisely, but more likely to catch sleep in catnaps during the day and be up at obscene hours during the night.

* Leaving Earth for Mars.

[Game 126 - teamness – Cheshire | Day 162 | nonshareable]

She's on a spaceship, again in uniform, plastered to one of the viewports. Cain, Lilith and Abel are with her. Cain takes a seat in the middle of the room with an all-around view. Lilith stands behind her, a light hand on her shoulder. Abel hovers near them, seemingly indifferent. For once she's too preoccupied to be scared of her brothers. She's watching Earth get farther and farther away in the viewport.

Crusnik is not present in this memory; at this point in the timeline it hasn't been discovered yet. Seth is very young. She has no idea what's going to happen; she's half-scared, half-excited. What will Mars be like?

+ The same note of awareness as in the previous memory; since she'll be taking both at the same time, they reinforce each other.
+ More interest in the physical reality of other worlds (space travel! etc) rather than only in the magic nexus thingermajibbet Aather has going on.
+ Family feels.
+ Generally no outward change, just . . . perspective.

* Receiving Crusnik and almost dying.

[Game 128 - trials – Queen of Hearts | Day 166 | shareable 3/4 (heart-shaped jam tarts)]

In a hospital room, filled with monitors and equipement. She's strapped down to a bed. The straps are metal. A doctor injects her with a syringe of strange silvery-black fluid. A red film creeps over her vision. This isn't so bad-- she thinks, and then suddenly it is. The pain is paralyzing, all-encompassing, endless.

In general, the first half of this, describing the twelve days, is a good reference for what she goes through in this memory, except that she also gets a dose of horrible fever delirium because she is generally less . . . able to handle it, physically or psychologically, than Abel is. Crusnik is in her for the first time in this memory, too, hungry and demanding, but it kind of blends into the general nightmarish white noise.

* Flawlessly acting in roles.

[Skill Game 23 - two truths and a lie – Kitsune | Day 165]

+ The ability to slip 'into character' as her various personas and hold it indefinitely; the ability to switch between one persona and another without any clumsiness or hesitation; the ability to hide.
+ Generalized acting etc. etc. if she has to act a part for a game or something and she's sufficiently motivated (not always the case, she can be kind of lazy) she will play that role to the hilt.
+ Includes costuming and general disguise knowhow, though she doesn't see a lot of point in Aather and might not do much with this part of it except maybe in games.
+ It is now . . . ridiculously hard to tell she is lying unless she wants you to know she is lying and/or you have superhuman abilities to tell. All the accidental slips/tells she had are either gone or no longer accidental whups.
